About Our Lab

We aspire to continue illuminating the genomic contributors to various forms of nephrotic syndrome, make discoveries that improve the health of children with this condition, and train the next generation of “kidneyomics” investigators.

Our Mission

Discover

Define nephrotic syndrome from a molecular perspective by mapping genetic changes driving this disease and understanding the mechanisms linking the genetic changes with the clinical condition.

Educate

Increase the genomic literacy of both pediatric and adult nephrologists, to help them most effectively care for their patients with nephrotic syndrome.

Contribute

Contribute to the development of genomically inspired treatments and cures.

Connect

Connect families and children affected with nephrotic syndrome with resources, support, and scientific research that could help contribute to improving their health.

Our team’s values

  • We are committed to conducting rigorous research that people can trust.

  • We responsibly and ethically share data to help other investigators around the world advance their own scientific discoveries.

  • We value the feelings, opinions, and thoughts of our patients, families, and colleagues.

  • We actively work on identifying ways to improve health equity and decrease disparities.

  • We foster a culture where people support and celebrate one another.

  • We believe in recruiting people to our lab who are intellectually curious, enthusiastic, friendly, and have strong integrity.
